It is with regret that I advise all personnel that Retired Senior Station Officer James “Jim” CRONE (Reg No 2379) passed away on the 26 May 2012 after a lengthy battle with asbestos related illness.
Jim joined the MFB on 18 August 1967 and resigned on 1 October 1988 after serving the Brigade and the Community for over 21 years. After serving at FS 1 Jim was stationed at various stations including FS 37 (old St Kilda), FS 10, FS 39, the Training College, and FS 35.
Not wanting to leave the fire service all together, Jim subsequently sought employment within the private fire and emergency service industry where, as a Fire/Emergency Officer, he served at Puckapunyal Army base and later at the Cerberus Naval Base.
