It is with regret that l advise all personnel that Retired Senior Station Officer George HOWES (Reg No 2488) passed away on 31 January after a lengthy battle with illness.
George joined the MFB on the 24 January 1969 and retired on 28 February 1993 after 24 years of dedicated service to the Brigade and community.
Records indicate that after his initial training at FS 10 George spent four years in Central District and, on promotion to Station Officer, transferred to the Training College. After 4 years there he went on to serve at FS 50, FS 48, FS 47, FS 51, FS 1, FS 39, FS 4, FS 47 and the Fire Protection Department.
